The group of people I am going to be examining on over the next few weeks is podcast fans of My favorite Murder.
My favorite Murder is hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. On the podcast they read real life murder stories. At the beginning of week they each choose one murder to talk about, then at the end of the week they read stories emailed in my fans about famous murders in their home towns. They do this in a light-hearted and humorous fashion while still respectful of the victims and the seriousness of the topics.
In resent years they have gained larger popularity, possibly due to the increase in true crime content available such as making a murder, Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, missing in plain site. etc
The pair are frequently in the top podcasts on the iTunes charts, even reaching number one in 2016. They have a 316,133 person following on Facebook and a 240K following on twitter,. They also have there own website. These are all ways fans can potently contact the duo and engage with one another.
Unlike many podcasts My favorite Murder doesn’t just exist online. The two travel around America doing live performances. They record the shows and post them as Podcasts. This is away fans can participate offline with them and each other.
The two are currently awaiting the release of their book stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered. The catch phase they use to end the recording.
